Introduction

Blume is built and operated by Optimal Apps. This Privacy Policy explains what data Blume collects when you use the app, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We try to keep this short and plain — Blume only collects what it needs to scan products and run your account.

What We Collect

Account data. When you sign in with Apple or with an email one-time code, we receive your Apple user ID or email address. We use this only to identify your account across devices.

Scans. When you scan a barcode, we send the barcode number to our server to look up the product. When you photograph an ingredient label, we send the image to our server so our AI can read the ingredients. Photos are used only to produce the scan result and are not retained beyond what is needed to return that result.

Preferences. Diet, allergens, and personalization settings you set inside Blume are stored on your device and synced to your account.

Usage data. We collect basic anonymous usage data (which screens are used, error reports) so we can fix bugs and improve the app. This data is not sold and does not include the contents of your scans.

What We Don't Do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not show third-party ads. We do not share your scan history with brands or advertisers. Blume is funded by member subscriptions, not by data brokering.

Service Providers

Blume relies on a small set of trusted third parties to operate: Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store payments), RevenueCat (subscription management), Mixpanel (anonymized analytics), Resend (transactional email for verification codes), Convex (database hosting), and OpenAI (AI ingredient analysis on scanned images and text). Each of these providers receives only the minimum data required to perform its function.

Your Rights

You can request a copy of the data we hold about your account, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it entirely. To do any of these, contact us at the email below and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

Blume is rated 13+ on the App Store and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes we will update the “last updated” date above and notify users in-app where appropriate.
